Case making

(Published date: 11/29/09)

At our shop, we specialize in designing and creating custom cases that are specifically tailored to fit existing antique movements.

It's unfortunate that many of the past masterpieces have been stripped of their cases for purposes such as recycling the gold and silver, leaving only the movement. However, by creating cases that are perfectly fitted to the dimensions and specifications of these movements, they can once again be restored to their former glory as functional timepieces.

For those who have a complete piece in its original case, we can create an additional case for daily use to help preserve the original case and prevent any damage from everyday wear and tear.

First, we carefully examine the customer's movement and gather information on their preferred design before beginning the design and production process for the case.

In addition to the bezel and caseback, we also use the cutting process to manufacture other parts of the case, including the center portion, pendant, bow (suspension tube), and hinges (butterfly plates), just as they were made during the original manufacturing process.

It is also possible to create wristwatch cases that are tailored to fit small pocket watch movements. By doing so, it is possible to create wristwatches that are equipped with high-quality movements that are far superior to those originally designed for wristwatches.
