This is a typical piece made by Edward Pryor, who along with George Pryor exported British barge watches to the Ottoman market.
The finished product cased for export dates back to his 1857, but the movement itself predates his by nearly 100 years.
It has a triple case configuration, with the inner case made of silver and the outer case decorated with tortoiseshell and fastened with silver pins.
Equipped with a barge escapement and a fusee (chain drive) mechanism that equalizes the mainspring torque transmitted to the barrel via the chain.
This movement features a beautifully carved backplate and an intricately perforated balance cock.
The Turkish-inspired enamel dial design features Oriental Arabic numerals.
This watch has its original watch paper in very good condition.
Both internal and external conditions are very well maintained. In particular, the movement can be said to be in a condition that is as close as possible to the state from the time of manufacture.
Guaranteed accuracy is within 5 minutes per day.
